Monday Night, Ken Griffey Jr. joined the elusive 600 Home Run club against the Florida Marlins. He is the sixth player to reach this milestone in MLB history. Griffey homered off of Marlins left-handed pitcher Mark Hendrickson with Jerry Hairston at third base with 1 out in the 1st inning. This ball traveled an estimated 413 feet into the right-field seats on a 3-1 count. The fan who got the ball says he intends to keep it. Before the Home Run Jerry Hairston, the runner at third base fractured his left thumb while stealing second base play earlier. He also stole 3rd base while Griffey was batting, but was taken out the next inning. Hairston is the third Reds shortstop to get hurt this season. Losing Hairston is still a huge blow to the reds, with Hairston batting .336 with 1 home run and 14 RBIs in 40 Games in the 2008 season.
